The only rule that matters when designing your bedroom

The only rule that matters when designing your bedroom

The bedroom is meant to be your escape. Your personal getaway. Your relaxation retreat. It’s where you let down the façade. Show the true you. Surround yourself with things you love.
No wonder, then, that there’s only one rule that matters when designing and furnishing your bedroom.
Don’t just take it from us, though. Here’s Cassity Kmetzsch from Remodelaholic to let you in on the rule:
You don’t have to impress anyone else. If it makes you happy, that’s all that matters!
For a little bedroom inspiration to help you create your own personal paradise, see how three of our favorite bloggers created their own zen zones.

Jenni Radosevich of I Spy DIY loves bedrooms that have a warm, natural vibe.
“I like to bring in a lot of greenery to warm up the space. That makes it feel inviting and livens up the room.”
While her bedroom designs certainly do impress us, that’s not her ultimate goal.
“For me, the bedroom is a sanctuary where you want to feel comfortable and unwind at the end of the day. You should be excited to go to sleep there!”

Nicole Balch: quaint and cozy hideaway

To make her happy, Nicole Balch of Making it Lovely creates a space that allows her to get away and just relax.
“Having a place to relax is most important to me. We have a family of five, so it’s not often I can sit on the sofa and look through a magazine. I rarely get a few minutes of downtime, so a relaxing bedroom is my reward at the end of each day."

Cassity likes a bedroom with a little more pop, so she picks furniture and accessories with crisp colors.
“They make me feel young, energetic and happy!”
For her, it doesn’t always have to match or be symmetrical. Cassity likes to use a mix of different styles to add character to her space.
“The mixing-and-matching really gives it a travelers aesthetic; a worldy vibe. That’s ultimately what I like to surround myself with.”
Because, we all know …
“Your bedroom really should reflect you. I’m not one of those people that must do everything exactly like everyone else, and that’s OK! Ultimately, it has to make YOU happy.”
